Happy Sunday!

Well. I just got back from church. Yes, you read right, church. A lovely service at St Stephen’s Uniting Church.

Normally I take after Sir Winston Churchill – rather than being a pillar of the church, more a flying buttress that supports the church from the outside, but Laura was singing in the choir for her college Old Girls’ annual service. Bach (in German!)… and Fauré (Requiem)… lovely!  The sermon and readings were based in John 10 but I was thinking more John 14. You see, Cardinal George Pell recently said that atheists would be accepted into heaven, but John 14:6 has Christ saying, “No one comes to the Father except through me”… Oh well, whatever happens, happens. I’d like to think that Jesus had a sense of humour though. You’d want to have a bit of fun in heaven, wouldn’t you?

Yep, the joke was certainly on those Roman centurion gamers on the third day, when they realised that they had neglected to…

So, to a relaxing Sabbath – prepare a slow-cooked beef stroganoff, watch the Tigers play the Eels and maybe some family time for a relaxing game of Scrabble…
