Annie and Laura took me to Encores last night for a splendid birthday dinner. Great food, excellent service and my dessert came with a sparkler. Very cute. The chef is sensational and I think a dessert background. I’m usually an entrée and main person but I go main and dessert at Encores. For the main I had perfectly cooked salmon with seared scallops and soy & ginger glaze (topped with three wee tasty tempura-style broccoli fleurettes) and dessert was an individual chocolate raspberry pudding with warm chocolate ganache and salted peanut ice cream. Wow!
Had soooooo many birthday wishes yesterday and I will try to reply to all today – but Dave rang and told me that a mate recently fixed him up with a blind date, with a bit of a heads up that she was expecting a baby. Dave said he felt like a proper idiot sitting in the bar wearing nothing but a nappy!
